Reservations about Hunger Strike

Well... all that talk about Spanish Paella has made me extremely hungry. Some of you must be thinking that when the students of premier institutes are on hunger strike how can i think about food? Well to tell you the truth - Because i dont belive that the "Hunger Strike" is going to make an iota of difference to any political party. A few doctors may die... Arjun Singh will blame the foreign hand for creating mischief and our Dr. Manmohan Singh - in his bid to "Moh the Man" of every political party will keep silent. Forget Mrs. Sonia Gandhi - anything and everything she says will be depicted as the demented plot of the Italians to take over India on the eve of the football world cup. Even the BJP - the so called upper caste party - is no good in this situation. Simply because it is completely clueless about the political situation of the country. In such a situation, does it make sense to stay hungry? You decide! How long can we keep our students hungry? And all sa

Spanish Paella

I found this extremely delicious dish in a magazine. Now the only problem is to pester someone to cook it and satisfy my tastebuds. If you know of some restaurant in Kolkata serving the dish. Well you know what to do... let me know. Here is the recipie. Try it, and if you like it let me know. Ingredients 4 cups rice 8 cups fish stock 8 king size prawns 200 gm shrimps 200 gm peas (fresh or frozen) 2 ripe tomatoes, skinned and chopped 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced Olive oil Salt, pepper and saffron to taste Method: Heate oil in a pan and saute the garlic. Add tomatoes, peas, shrimp and saffron. Cook for a few minutes. Add rice, stir well and then add the fish stock. Cook on slow for about 20 minutes. Add the remaining seafood a few minutes before the rice is cooked. Cover Paella with a lid to poach the seafood. If you wish you could also cook the seafood before and then add them. Add garlic, salt and pepper to taste and simmer for about 5 mins.

The storm, i belive does not do justice to the OBC or to the SC or the ST's of India. Let me elucidate. The reservation is justified on the grounds that the Indian Scriptures sanction the discrimination. "Manu Smriti" writes that the Dalit's and Shudra's must serve the upper caste with outmost loyalty and obedience. Non compliance is supposed to attract the most severest penalties. Many such practises persist in India till this date. It is argued that the Upper Caste should pay the penalty for this in-human subjugation of the lower caste in the 21st century. I am not saying that such kind of caste prejudices do n
